Today, we've made one of the most significant upgrades to the Caplia Readiness Index (CRI) since its launch.

From today, every CRI assessment, Score Hub recommendation and Thesis Match result is powered by Phronel, Caplia's proprietary decision intelligence model, purpose-built for the early-stage ecosystem.

This marks a fundamental shift in how we evaluate companies, bringing greater precision, stronger evidence-based assessments and more consistent scoring, all within our own private UK infrastructure.

Phronel replaces general-purpose AI models with intelligence purpose-built to understand and evaluate early-stage companies.

Grounded in frameworks developed by leading academics with over 30 years of experience in venture capital and entrepreneurial finance, and shaped by experienced operators from across the early-stage ecosystem, Phronel brings deep domain expertise to every assessment.

It identifies evidence that general-purpose AI can overlook, challenges unsupported claims and evaluates companies against the signals that matter most to experienced investors.

The result is a more rigorous, consistent and evidence-led assessment of investment readiness.

Important: Your CRI score may change

Alongside this upgrade, we've refined the weightings of individual signals across the five CRI domains to better reflect what matters in today's early-stage investment environment.

This means some companies will see their CRI scores increase or decrease when they are next assessed.

These changes are intentional and reflect a more rigorous evaluation methodology, not necessarily a change in the underlying company.

What remains consistent:

• The 1,000-point CRI scale and five assessment domains.

• The underlying scoring framework and actionable recommendations.

• Consistent evaluation standards applied across every company.

• Clear, evidence-based explanations behind each assessment.

Companies previously assessed before 13 October 2026 may therefore receive an updated score when reassessed under Phronel.

We will continue refining signal weightings as new evidence emerges, with material changes documented on our blog, or on the Caplia changelog.
